Milano Stays Perfect in Serie A1; Chieri Dominates Cuneo

Numia Vero Volley Milano continues to dominate the Italian Serie A1 women’s volleyball league, extending their perfect start to the season with a commanding straight-set victory. Meanwhile, Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri also showcased impressive form, sweeping aside Granda Volley Cuneo.

Milano Maintains Unblemished Record

Playing in front of a passionate crowd of 3,586 spectators at the Opiquad Arena in Monza, Milano delivered a flawless performance against Igor Gorgonzola Novara. The 3-0 win (25-19, 25-18, 25-15) marks their third consecutive victory, propelling them to the top of the standings with a perfect nine points.

The offensive firepower of Milano was evident, with Paola Egonu leading the charge with 18 points. Khalia Lanier contributed significantly with 13 points, and Rebecca Piva added 11. The team’s dominance at the net was a key factor, as they recorded an impressive 12 blocks compared to Novara’s five. Anna Danesi was instrumental in this effort, earning MVP honors for her outstanding performance, which included six crucial blocks and nine points.

After a closely contested opening set, Milano gradually asserted their control over the match. Novara, despite 10 points from Vita Tolok, struggled to find answers to Milano’s consistent pressure. This victory also marked a significant milestone for Milano, ending a six-match losing streak against their rivals Novara.

Chieri’s Dominant Display Against Cuneo

In another highly anticipated match, Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri bounced back from their previous defeat to Conegliano with a resounding 3-0 away victory over Granda Volley Cuneo. The sets finished 25-13, 25-13, and 25-21, highlighting Chieri’s superiority throughout the contest.

American outside hitter Logan Eggleston was named the Most Valuable Player for her stellar performance, scoring 14 points. Anett Németh also made a significant impact, adding 13 points, including four crucial aces that disrupted Cuneo’s rhythm. Chieri controlled the first two sets with ease, demonstrating their offensive prowess and solid defense.

While Cuneo showed a stronger challenge in the third set, Chieri managed to hold them off and secure the sweep. Francesca McBride was the top scorer for Cuneo with nine points, but her efforts were not enough to prevent her team from remaining at the bottom of the standings without any points.

Early Season Trends Emerge

These results follow closely on the heels of Vallefoglia’s impressive 3-1 victory over Brescia on Friday. That win also extended Vallefoglia’s perfect start to the season, demonstrating the competitive nature of the Italian Serie A1 league.

The early stages of the season are already showcasing strong performances from teams like Milano and Chieri, setting an exciting tone for the remainder of the Serie A1 championship.
