In an intense game of women’s volleyball at the 2023 Volleyball Nations League, Team China exhibited a dominant performance, sealing a 3:0 victory against Team Canada with scores of 25:14, 25:18, and 29:27.
China’s fierce offense was marked by 38 attacks, the majority of which came from Outside Hitter Li Yingying (No. 12) and Middle Blocker Wang Yuanyuan (No. 7), who scored 13 and 8 attack points respectively. Despite Canada making 41 attacks, it was China’s defense that played a decisive role in the victory. With 58 successful digs, they neutralized a significant portion of Canada’s offensive plays, proving instrumental in their win.
China’s exceptional blocking was another significant factor. Out of the 7 blocks executed, team captain Yuan Xinyue (No. 1) and Wang Yuanyuan (No. 7) contributed 3 and 1 block points each. Adding to their repertoire, China registered 4 serve aces, 2 of which were beautifully served by Setter Diao Linyu (No. 3).
On the other side of the net, Canada made a commendable effort. They tallied a total of 72 digs, an impressive defensive performance. However, they struggled in the blocking department, managing only 3 blocks. They also registered only 2 serve aces during the game. The Canadian attack was led by Outside Hitter Gray Alexa (No. 9) and Howe Hilary (No. 14), who recorded 12 and 11 attack points respectively.
