A look back on the past:
Let’s dive into the thrilling world of volleyball and put a spotlight on the Iran Men’s National Volleyball Team! Over the past five years, these guys have been smashing, blocking, and serving their way through major international competitions, showing the world what Iranian volleyball is all about.
For most, whenever someone mentions that team, we take a step back in time to 2021 when Iran faced off against Germany in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL). It was a match to remember, with skillful plays and intense rallies that left fans on the edge of their seats.
Fast forward to 2022, the stage is set yet again for the VNL. Iran, undeterred by the challenge, faces off against Poland. The match was a showcase of grit, determination, and outstanding teamwork. The team also traveled to Brazil, Bulgaria, and Poland, competing against 12 teams in electrifying matches that had fans on the edge of their seats.
Fast forward again to the year 2023. It’s time for the VNL once more! Iran, invigorated and ready, steps onto the court with a squad of 31 players. The anticipation is high. Can they do it again?
Let’s not forget the 2021 Tokyo Olympics – a stage that every athlete dreams of. Iran, represented by 12 of their best players, entered the arena with heads held high, ready to make their mark. While they did finish 9th, we need to keep in mind that it was the country’s second ever qualification.
Players to look out for:
Milad Ebadipour, the Iranian volleyball maestro! Born in 1993, Milad has been carving out a legacy in volleyball that’s hard to ignore. This dynamo has represented Iran in two Olympic Games, and boy, did he shine! In 2017, Milad made history by becoming the first Iranian player to compete in the Polish League, and what a spectacle that was! Fast forward to 2022, he made a massive leap, joining the Power Volley Milano in Italy.. From Iran to Poland, and now Italy, Milad Ebadipour is setting the volleyball world alight!
Amin Esmaeilnezhad, a dynamite on the volleyball court that’s been taking the sport by storm! There’s little that Amin hasn’t achieved in his sparkling career. Amin has been a key player for various clubs, showcasing his talent and skill in 16 tournaments and countless matches. He was the second best attacker in the 2022 VNL with the staggering 351 points. Let’s see what he can achieve this year!
Morteza Sharifi, an electrifying force in the world of volleyball! Born in Urmia, Iran, in 1999, Sharifi has established himself as a top-tier outside spiker. Sharifi’s athletic journey took him from Iran to Turkey, where he played for clubs like Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyespor and Galatasaray.. A member of the Iranian national team since 2018, Sharifi is a rising star, captivating audiences with his high-flying spikes and strategic plays.
