Brazilian Women’s Superliga Sees Two Teams Maintain Perfect Records
The Brazilian Women’s Superliga is heating up, with two teams, Dentil Praia Clube and Sesi Vôlei Bauru, standing tall with perfect 3-0 records after the third round of play. Both squads secured crucial victories to maintain their unblemished starts to the season.
Praia Clube Dominates Despite Squad Rotation
Dentil Praia Clube showcased their depth and talent by sweeping Paulistano Barueri 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-15) in Uberlândia. Even with a rotated squad, Praia Clube proved too strong for their opponents.
Opposite Sabrina Machdo led the charge with 13 points, while middle blocker Lanna Machado earned the MVP award, contributing 11 points with 7 kills and 4 crucial blocks. Sofya Kuznetsova also chipped in with 11 points for Praia Clube.
On the other side, Paulistano Barueri continues to struggle, remaining without a point or a set won after three matches. Geovana Freitas was their top scorer with 11 points.
Sesi Vôlei Bauru Matches Praia’s Perfection
Sesi Vôlei Bauru also kept their perfect streak alive, defeating Fluminense 3-0 at the Arena Paulo Skaf. The set scores were 25-19, 25-18, and a decisive final set.
American opposite Morgahn Fingall was instrumental in the victory, earning MVP honors and a game-high 16 points. This win marks Fluminense’s first defeat of the season.
Both Dentil Praia Clube and Sesi Vôlei Bauru now sit at 3-0 with 9 points each. Sesi Vôlei Bauru currently holds the lead in the standings due to a superior points ratio.
Pinheiros Clinches Thrilling Three-Hour Marathon Victory
In a dramatic contest that lasted nearly three hours, E.C. Pinheiros secured their first win of the season by defeating Brusque 3-2 (25-23, 19-25, 27-25, 22-25, 17-15). This match was a rematch of last season’s Superliga B final.
The thrilling tie-break went down to the wire, with Pinheiros ultimately prevailing by two points after an intense battle. Flavia Lisboa was named MVP for her outstanding performance, scoring 20 points for Pinheiros.
Brusque saw strong offensive performances from opposite Camila Mesquita, who was the game’s top scorer with 28 points, and Santiago, who added 24 points. However, their efforts weren’t enough to secure the win.
The hard-fought victory came at a cost for Pinheiros, as setter Juliana Carrijo suffered an injury early in the second set and was unable to continue playing.
