In a thrilling match at the Volleyball Nations League 2023, Slovenia triumphed over Cuba with a 3-1 set victory. The teams squared off in an electrifying atmosphere, where the final scores were 22-25, 25-15, 25-16, and 25-19.
Slovenia showed remarkable prowess and resilience, coming back from a first-set loss to dominate the subsequent sets. The team’s statistics were highly impressive with 49 successful attacks, 10 blocks, 5 serve aces, and 45 digs.
On the Slovenian side, Captain Urnaut Tine, donning jersey number 17, led the charge with a total of 19 points – 16 from attacks and 3 from serves. He was ably supported by Čebulj Klemen (No. 18), who racked up 14 points, and Štern Žiga (No. 14) who contributed 13 points. Kozamernik Jan (No. 4) was a force to reckon with at the net, executing six successful blocks and scoring 9 points overall. Pajenk Alen (No. 2) also made a notable contribution with 6 points.
In contrast, Cuba fought hard but could not sustain the momentum after winning the first set. The Cuban team recorded 45 attacks, 2 blocks, 4 serve aces, and 39 digs. Herrera Jaime Jesus (No. 12) and Yant Herrera Marlon (No. 23) were the standout players for Cuba, both contributing 13 points. Lopez Castro Miguel Angel (No. 18) followed closely with 9 points. Concepcion Rojas Javier Octavio (No. 5) and Masso Alvarez Jose Israel (No. 1) added 7 and 6 points respectively to the Cuban scoreboard.
