Pallavolo Padova gears up for their first road test of the 2026/27 season, facing a formidable opponent in Cucine Lube Civitanova this Sunday. The match marks the second round of the Regular Season, with Padova looking to make a statement away from home.
Assessing the Challenge Against Civitanova
After opening their campaign at home against Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, Padova now travels to the Eurosuole Forum to take on a Cucine Lube Civitanova side that has already secured an away victory to start their season. The challenge is significant, as Civitanova is known for its powerful play across multiple facets of the game.
Coaching Staff Focus on Resilience and Reception
The coaching staff has emphasized key areas for improvement and preparation. Second coach Alberto Salmaso highlighted the need for resilience, stating, “When preparing a match against a team like Civitanova, the main thing is to be ready to suffer in every fundamental. They will serve hard, and that will be a big test for our reception line, which will need to withstand the pressure even when the serving intensity is highest.” He added that staying competitive during Civitanova’s high-pressure moments is crucial for Padova’s growth.
Third coach Luca Beccaro echoed the sentiment, focusing on minimizing reception errors and maximizing counter-attack opportunities. “It will be important to concede as little as possible in reception. When their rhythm is high, we will need to try to help each other and build a good transition phase, taking advantage of the few moments when their block is in difficulty,” Beccaro explained.
Maintaining Identity Under Pressure
Both coaches agree on the importance of maintaining their team’s identity, regardless of the scoreline. “Civitanova is a high-quality team, like many we will face in the coming games, so it will be very important to always stay in the game, even when the score is not in our favor,” Salmaso noted.
Beccaro stressed the significance of team spirit and mutual support. “Beyond maintaining our game, which for me is the main thing, we will need to be united and manage to help each other. That’s where you see a team capable of coming out of difficult moments,” he said.
Padova aims to build on their early-season experience, using this tough away fixture as another step in their development journey.
